Ikanos’ solutions power DSLAMs, optical network units (ONUs), concentrators, customer premises equipment (CPE), modems and residential gateways for the world’s leading network equipment manufacturers. Ikanos has developed programmable, scalable chip architectures, which form the foundation for deploying and delivering triple play services. Expertise in the creation and integration of unique digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms with advanced digital, mixed signal and analog semiconductors enables Ikanos to offer high-performance, high-density and low power VDSL2 products. Flexible network processor architecture with wire-speed packet processing capabilities enables high-performance residential gateways for distributing advanced services in the home. These industry-leading solutions thus support carriers’ triple play deployment plans to the digital home while keeping their capital and operating expenditures low.

Leading Access and Gateway Solutions

Ikanos is the first company to develop programmable silicon solutions to deliver fiber-quality broadband access over single loop copper. At aggregate speeds up to 200 Mbps, and distances in excess of 15,000 feet, the Ikanos family of chipsets delivers the industry's top range of data rates, and ranges.

Ikanos solutions are used in line cards to extend fiber-based services over copper to serve the Fiber to the Home, Premise, Curb and Basement (FTTx) markets, and VDSL services to the Multi-Tenant/Multi-Dwelling Unit (MxU), and Central Office/Remote Terminal (CO/RT) markets.

Each chipset supports ATM or Ethernet interfaces and a broad range of international standards bringing unprecedented market flexibility to equipment vendors. This versatility not only allows equipment suppliers to speed time to market, but also slashes development, engineering, production, and inventory costs.

Because Ikanos uses Discrete Multi-Tone (DMT) line coding, Ikanos based broadband services are spectrally compatible with existing access services, such as POTS, ISDN, and xDSL. OS-independent Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) enable easy integration into existing management software. The Ikanos family of chipsets supports asymmetric or symmetrical applications and each chipset is micro-programmable in flexible 64 kbps increments. When used in concert with Ikanos based Subscriber Located Equipment (SLE), multi-service access suppliers can develop powerful solutions that provide complete end-to-end programmability, including an auto-configurable interface for simple plug and play subscriber installation.

Ikanos’ network processing products enable CPEs to delivery triple play services to residential gateways. Network processors from Ikanos target Broadband Access CPE solutions for a wide range of applications including residential gateways, routers, security appliances/IP-PBX for SoHo/SME markets, and analog telephone adapters (ATAs). Ikanos’ portfolio includes Fusiv® VoIP residential gateway processors for ADSL2/2+/ VDSL2/ FTTx, and Fusiv NP processors for communications, networking and security applications.

Digital TV Intellectual Property

Ikanos’ Demodulator IP Core enables integrated terrestrial/cable TV receiver systems to receive digital High Definition (HD) and Standard Definition (SD) broadcast signals without coverage reliability issues that occur in commonly found multi-path signal environments. The DoraVision™ 8-VSB/QAM Demodulator IP core is ideal for System-on-a-Chip (SoC) integration and is found in such end-end-user applications such as ATSC standard compatible Digital TV sets, PC TVs, recordable DVDs, digital video recorders (DVRs), personal video recorders (PVRs), and set-top boxes (STBs).
